Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Velocity Text Expander ("Velocity", "the extension", "the service", "we", "us", or "our").
By installing the extension or creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use Velocity.
1. Acceptance & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
These Terms are written in English. Any translated version is provided for convenience only. In the event of a conflict, the English version prevails.
2. Description of Service
Velocity is a cross-browser text expansion extension for Chrome and Firefox. It operates locally on your device by default. An optional, end-to-end encrypted sync feature is available via a Supabase-backed account.
3. Free Tier & Usage Limits
The free tier of Velocity includes:
- Unlimited local snippets (no account required)
- 100 active synced snippets per account when sync is enabled
"Active" means snippets not yet soft-deleted. Attempting to sync more than 100 active snippets will result in an error notification within the extension. We reserve the right to adjust this limit for future paid tiers with advance notice.
4. Prohibited Use
You must not use Velocity to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Automate the submission of spam, phishing content, or malicious text
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the encryption keys of other users
- Abuse the Supabase sync infrastructure to create unreasonable load (e.g., through automated bulk imports exceeding platform limits)
- Circumvent or disable any quota or rate-limit mechanism
Velocity reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts found in violation of these prohibitions.
5. Intellectual Property
The Velocity extension, its source code, brand assets, and documentation are the property of Velocity Text Expander and are licensed under the terms specified in the repository's LICENSE file. Your snippet content remains your own intellectual property.
6. Privacy
Your use of Velocity is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The service will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Any data loss will not occur (you are responsible for exporting backups via the JSON export feature)
- The service will meet your specific requirements
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Velocity and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (or NZD $10 if no amount was paid).
9. Termination
You may stop using Velocity and delete your account at any time via the extension's Settings panel. Termination triggers an immediate hard-delete of all your data in Supabase (see Privacy Policy §6). Local data is cleared simultaneously.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice.
10. Changes to These Terms
We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated via the extension's release notes.
